Hollywood,
Wow, what a few days it's been crazy over here these last few days, some things I can tell you now some you will have to wait for, since I last got on a computer (I'm writing this on my phone again) we left San Diego, spent two nights In anahiem (for disneyland) and then got into LA. Were currently staying just off Hollywood bvd which is awesome, we walked past the premier of the new Jack black movie so we basically met Jack black.
Were in the middle of a rain 'storm' here meaning it's just been raining for ages pretty softly, everything is starting to flood, and we got soaked on our tour of Beverly hills, Hollywood and rodeo drive. Without thinking we decided to book a tour with an open sided mini bus, honestly it was closer to a boat and we were pelted with ice cold rain and 40mph wind as we drove through LA. That said we really are living the Hollywood dream, as I write this it's 12:07 am here (won't upload it till tommorow) and I can hear the sirens of the LAPD out the window.
I'm stuck in a room alone with 4 strangers but it's nothing on the room I was in before this....... This is the part I will tell you about at a later date but wow.... Just wow..... The dynamic is very different in this room, the lights are on although everyone is in bed bar like one guy... They were here before me so I assume he is the dominant male... Still deciding whether to challege for leadership of The 'herd' Or not...luckily o sleep better with lights on, in fact any time my brain is saying to my body I should be awake I sleep like a baby, but when it's lights out and quiet I'm wide awake. On this trip however I've had such little sleep I've been getting to sleep just fine. At this point it's now 12:15 and I'm getting really tired, both of typing on this phone and in general. I will finish this blog tomorow and upload it then...
Ok 20 hours later I'm back, we went to universal studios today, it is still super wet the streets/gutters are flooded in many places, not super bad but loads of water and everything I own is damp. I was just down stairs putting all my clothes, including my beloved mustard jeans in the wash before we leave for NYC tomorrow. Lukily em and another girl were in the washing room to guide me through the process, Its so complicated with some things needing low temp and some u can't dry... And some being scared of the spin cycle, I look forward to getting back home and having my beloved mother do it, I have a new respect for her though cause it's a right pain. The worst part is entertaining yourself for the hour while it's doing it's thang. I have however discovered a new love, watching the clothes spin round and round. When I move out I'm going to buy a front loader with a clear door and mount it next to the tv, either that or put some couches in front of it. Oh and the other great thing about washing is after you come home from a day of walking through the rain, (at universal studios, down Hollywood blvd, the kodak theatre, Chinese theatre and walk of fame) your cold, damp and tired and the washing room is about 100 degrees. Between the searing heat, soothing note of 10 machines all moving in time and the intoxicating image of clothes spinning around and around your warm, calm and entertained.... Maybe washing isn't so bad after all.
Oh one or two more things. I guess I should tell you about how I met Jack black. Yesterday when we arrived we walked past the Chinese theatre and it was all covered with clear gazibos (can't spell that one) and there were cameras everywhere and limos all lined up. It was the premier of Jack Blacks new movie. We stated and looked for a. While but couldn't see more than a few shadows of what was going on whenever a flash went off. I'm sure I saw a shape which was unmistakable as Jack Blacks outline and as the flashes intensified I saw his head turn to me and nod as if to acknowekedge my presence. I feel like he knew I was there and was glad I had made the effort, and I was glad he recognized me, most probably from my blog. He will most probably be quite excited when he reads this, so once again thanks Jack.
Ok I'm going to go check my washing and get an earlish night, flying to New York City tomorow at 9am, and then on to Toronto the next day. It's snowing all week in Toronto and I finally got a coat today. Will upload pics soon once I pay the money for more upload space.
Bye for now, comment so I know ur still with me, sorry about the lack of posts and images, promise I will add more soon!
Michael.
Ps just had to be let into the washing room (wasn't supposed to start a wash after nine but I thought by now it would be finished.... I forgot to push start and it's a 24min wash plus 45 min dry so this isn't good at all.... I've gotta dry it before tomorrow so too bad for USA hostel Hollywood.. But Im not leaving till it's done!
Hi Mike,
ReplyDeletewe are certainly still with you and being vastly amused by your domestic adventures. If you get tired of design, I think you have a career in Journalism or maybe creative writing. We have two days of sun in Brisbane - probably the only fine days since you left, but fear not, rain is forecast for the rest of the week, including Christmas. Rain or not, we're thinking of you! Love Dad and Mum
