Day Four

So the days are going super quickly now, which is a shame, but there are still plenty to go i suppose. So today we went to Alcatraz which although the weather was overcast and spitting on occasion was really enjoyable.

I wont bore you too much with text, and i am too tired to be funny, (probably lost half of my two readers just then)

Tomorrow we are headed to Vegas, which i cant wait for. I love that city, although i have really enjoyed San Francisco so far, the best thing is we get to come back here and ride over the Golden Gate, and check out some other things we've not yet got too.

I most likely wont update this until we get back from Vegas because our hotel doesn't have free Wi Fi and i wont be taking all that many pictures because i did that last time. This time i will just be busy getting rich.

The pics of the Golden Gate from this afternoon was the first time we saw the sun and the bridge together. Im hoping that when we ride across it the weather is nice, should be really good if it is.

I'm coming home sin city!!

Michael.

herd its raining over there.... hows that going for y'all

Day Three

So it turns out that 55mph the average speed ALL taxi's do up and down the hills here. The funny thing was, i was sitting behind the driver and saw the seatbelt light flashing, i looked over to david and said to belt up, both because a crash was likely and the light was flashing, he just pointed to the drivers belt, which was hanging from side of the car... so safety isn't big on their priority here.

Speaking of safety, i was beginning to feel fairly safe walking around here until this morning a lady got mugged in the Westfield while we were there in broad daylight.. there are also a lot of crazies walking around which keep you on your toes, but until one takes my wallet, its all not really a problem.

Anyway, Today we went to Japan town, which is where the fatlace store is (i was underwhelemed) then we went to China town and on to little Italy. I had dinner at a really nice itilaian resaurant, i had ravioli which was really nice.

Anyway, here are some photos.

Fatlace Store sorry abou the crappy picture

I got Gloves, and have needed them although its not even been that cold yet. you can see my new indy mustard coloured skinny jeans in the background. Got called a "hipster with his camera" by some idiot today, but i called him a fag with a hat and he kept on walking so we were even.

 Look HAT Rosanna

Awesome bike shop we walked past tonight, it was closed but i am going back, it looked unreal, the parts were all awesome, it was real dark so the photos suck.

Christmas time really does make everything so much more awesome. Everything over here is lit up and the trees are massive. It was awesome seeing people ice skate in union sq with a 80 foot Christmas tree in the background.

Oh and I looked up the Toronto forecast and next wed the minimum is MINUS 8 degrees C? the high is -2 so thats going to be cold.. but at Macys i have a 25% off card which is unreal so im going to go nuts and buy some really warm clothes.

anyway Rach is supposed to work out what to do tomorrow but she is struggling..

ps.. Greg.. I have managed to keep this up for three days now.. BUT things might change after a few more days when I loose David and his laptop....

Bye for now,
Michael.

Day Two

So Day two is done, it feels like we have been here a week all ready, but in a great way. I really am having a great time and San Francisco is a really awesome city so far. I wont write so much tonight.

So after making pancakes for breakfast (free) we played two games of pool (free) then went for a walk from our hostel to fisherman's wharf (couldn't help think of you Luke) via Lombard St. We then went on to the ferry terminal i think and then back into Union Square. It was about 4 miles walk, which would usually be fine, but the hills...... my god the hills....

I have no words to describe this..... absolutely blew my mind, shame the photo sucks

Wow they have mirrors that are curved here!?? oh wait..

Streets and streets of awesome houses, all in the same style.

Steep street, the one before Lombard

What.. how do you take photos?

So i just got back from a night out, the second place we went i met a girl and guy... we got to talking and they picked that i was a creative type, most probably due to the leather jacket (yes i rocked it) and mustard skinny jeans which i was wearing. Turns out  she was a creative director, and worked for which California based company??? .... APPLE!!! so either everyone in this town works for apple, or i got incredibly lucky!.. she asked if I had a portfolio, and when i had to say no because i didnt prepare one.. and i died a little bit inside... she asked if i had a website so i gave her sincro design address and my email.. so we'll see.. don't expect anything, but i really love this country...

Today i bought Levi jeans for $32.... i just had a small burger meal from Jack in the box which cost a grand total of 3.99 INCLUDING CURLY FRIES!!! and met a girl who worked for apple and had her interested enough to ask for my portfolio... i honestly think i achieved more in the last 24 hours here than 21 years at home.....

so to conclude.. i love this country.

ps.. i have given up proof reading these so im sorry.

Oh and mum + dad  if u are even reading this feel free to leave a comment to say how much you miss me and its not the same without me there ect...

3 Reasons I love this country

Reason 1: Giant Beer $3.50 and that's for a classy Belgium drop (the other bottle is a regular sized one)

Reason 2: Pop Tarts. The flavour is marshmallow and chocolate. I love how honest they are, "naturally and Artificially flavoured" and all for the bargain price of 99c.

Reason 3. Grainwaves copy chips. They looked very similar in the packet, but they were called sun chips. When i opened them they were super thin.. a bit of a disappointment.

Its almost midnight, still only had about an hour sleep since leaving Brisbane at 9am on Wednesday, over 30 hours and i have learned one important thing..............

................I love this country................

Day One

Ok, So I have finally got time to write the first post for my much anticipated and hyped travel blog. I will jump right too it after goodbyes at the airport.

We boarded the Brisbane to Sydney flight 10 min late, which would turn out to be only the beginning of the delays. These delays were nothing however compared to the meeting we/i had with the lovley Shelly Craft, of funniest home video fame. turns out she was sitting two seats across from me, so we pretty much spent the morning together, well at least we had some pretty good conversations, well at least the guy who was next to her was doing pretty well, and i was the one eaves dropping their conversation. There was a number/email exchange also.  While we were on the flying down to Sydney every ten min the captian would tell us the flight was further delayed due to bad weather and a number of failed landing attempts in Sydney. The others started to panic when the arrival time came within 50 min of the scheduled departure time of our connecting flight. We still had to get to the international terminal and find the gate. I however, as usual remained cool, calm and collected and i think i overheard a few of the other guys saying how glad they were that i stayed calm and steered us to the gate. It turned out the flight was also delayed although the neglected to mention this on the board. It ended up leaving over one hour late.

Also, while on the bus heading to the international terminal we saw two of the Qantas A380's both with engine cowls open being engineered i assume. Also we saw QF12 to LA depart, which was running a 747 rather than the A380, but hopefully they will be back in service by the 8th Jan.

As i was originally writing this on a notepad on the plane, sitting in seat 66G for those playing at home, i am constantly being disrupted by slightly old, but still young enough flight attendants offering me food/drinks/backrubs it occurs to me that really this flying thing isnt too bad. It turns out being waited on hand and foot, having moderatly attractive women bring you gin and tonic, weis bars, pretzels and fruit is pretty damn good. Also, having a choice of tv shows/movies/music or lame games no more than three inches from your face is far better than the crap forced apon you on United Airlines. It also occurs to me however that could i somehow rig up the toliet to the seat i would be in heaven.  While I'm on the topic of toilets, aircraft toilets really are amazing bits of kit. That flush gives me goosebumps every time.

So thats as far as i got while on the plane, because after the first 4 hours which felt like 25 i had the realisation that there were still 10 to go... and that hurt my moral. Despite movies on tap, it turns out im really not a fan of flying, or movies for that matter.. I did watch Toy Story 3, and unlike Rach i was able to hold back tears. The rest of the plane trip sucked..i was starving because i was to nervous/excited to eat breakfast and had no time for lunch. In 24 hours i ate only two plane meals, 1 apple some cookies and novelty sized back of pretzels.

We Finally arrived in SF, i had my hat and my glasses ready and started to disembark the plane. I checked my shirt neck where i had my glasses hanging as i was stepping of the plane and found they had gone! I just spend a fair amount of money on these glasses and almost cried. I turned back and in a slight panic searched for the glasses. Luckly, with the help of one of the staff i found them and joined the others on US soil.

We got to the BART (bay area rapid transport system) station and boarded the train. on a side note it was doing about 50mph which was fast. we got our first glimpse of San Francisco and it really was quite beautuful.  It was that golden time of morning i dont often see and there was a crisp haze in the air, i was also impressed with the distinct lack that normal urine smell you often get on big city public transport systems.

This is getting very long in the tooth so i will wrap it up and add photos which you no doubt skipped to anyway. In a nutshell we got to our accommodation, its not bad for what it is, great location, dumped our bags and went out to explore. I didnt take my camera because i didnt want ot look like a tourist but i went out after and took some quick snaps.

There is a massive Christmas tree just down the road and an ice skating rink, pretty cool place so far and haven't even seen the headline acts of the city yet. Anyway on to the pics.

Sitting on the ground at Sydney
