Goodbye San Francisco (the lost blog)

I thought this blog was lost when Rach accidentally deleted it when using Davids computer back in San Francisco.. but here it is, better late than never. Think of it as my Christmas present to you all!

Ok so its Sunday night, my last night in San Francisco, we fly out to San Diego in the morning at about 8am. I've had an amazing two days, close to the best so far. I will start with Saturday, we went to the Muir Woods, which is a thousand year old redwood forest with really tall and old trees. The drive there included a trip across the Golden Gate which i was excited about, however it was once again very foggy. That was until we got past halfway, it was amazing but all of a sudden there was blue sky and the top of the bridge was visible for the first time and it honestly took my breath away. The views through to the woods were amazing also, couldn't get many good snaps out of the bus window though.

So here are some pics of the woods.

On the way back from the woods the sun started to set and  we caught a glimpse of the golden gate bridge with the sun setting behind it. Now, anyone who knows me at all will know that my favourite thing in the world is a good sunset, and being in San Francisco, with the sun setting behind the golden gate bridge was just amazing. The bus driver was flying down a little road and then he pulled into a car park with the most amazing views of the bridge, he only did it because it was such great sunset, because the bridge is really nothing to see at night, its really not lit well at all.

So here are the pics, it really took my breath away, i was stuck with my 50mm lens so i had no zoom, i did the best i could. Damn SLR's

After this we got dropped back at home on Post St and i cooked omelette's for the girls and David. They turned out pretty well too, no pics though, they were eaten too quickly! The hostel had a Christmas party after that with free food and a free keg of beer, but it tasted like rubbish so i was happy with my 12$ 6 pack of Becks, which i found out is 8$ at a supermarket. Its scary how cheap drinks are here. We met a few girls who are in NYC for NYE so we might catch up with them later, its god meeting the other people over here even though they seem to all be from Australia.

This brings me to Today, we went to the NFL today, we saw the San Francisco 49'ers vs the Seattle Sea Hawks, it was really quite an experience. They fans were all talking trash to each other but it was mostly in good spirits and fun to watch. Some scary looking people there though i can tell you that.

This guy was happy as larry to see the 49ers get a touch down

Cotton Candy anyone??

One of the biggest and loudest guys sat in Rach's seat when she left to get a 49ers dog and i asked him to move, he looked at me for a while and then said (in my best American accent) "oh sure man no worries" you cant always judge a book by its cover.

So as i said, this is our last day in San Francisco, David splits up with us tomorrow, he goes to Minneapolis and we go down to San Diego.  Couldn't be two more different cities, we are on the border of Mexico, he is on the border of Canada,  its 22 degrees C tomorrow in San Diego and -23 C in Minneapolis. Apparently the baseball stadium roof collapsed because of the amount of snow. They are having a real cold snap in the north at the moment.

So i'm going to be sad to leave San Francisco, i have become very fond of this city, but i'm excited to see some other cities in California and then head to NYC and Toronto. these first 13 days have gone too quickly, i know i will be back home very soon.

Sorry these aren't an entertaining read any more the lack of sleep is catching up with me an my brain isn't its usual witty (and humble) self.

Merry Chritmas!

Random Snaps

Sorry for the bombardment of stuff today but i got excited i have free internet and a lot of pics to share!

These two are specifically for Brad and Sarah + Brooke but others will enjoy im sure.
Its no food diary, i havn't had time yet, (but have been trying to photograph all the crazy stuff i have been eating)
but this is just a teaser, this was a small breakfast i had the other morning in San Diego... they call it a monster sandwich... cant argue with that for $3.99. I love this country

Had some pretty epic flaring going on.. shame it will be a pile of rust in a year or two... the salt + snow is torture I've seen some real rust buckets running around over here

PS i posted two new blogs just now.. so check them out.

USS Midway + Automotive Museum San Diego

Check the Post Below Before this one... it has SNOW!!

Dad, These are the pics i took on the USS Midway, well some of them anyway.
Brad, these pics were at the San Diego automotive museum, pretty cool place becasue SoCal was the birthplace of the Hotrod.. aparently..
Greg, you will also enjoy the car pics (i also saw Elvis' California house in Beverly Hills)  just the outside though.
